Peppy Paws Pooch Park, LLC, is Ashland County, Ohio's very first Dog Park. We are conveniently located just outside of town to the north, not far from Gerwig’s White Barn Market.

There are literally dozens of public or privately-owned dog parks currently in communtities across Ohio, and now Ashland County has one too!

Peppy Paws Pooch Park is privately owned and supported by the dog owners who use it, through their membership fee. The fee pays for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the park. We receive no tax money.

There are two park areas, a 1-acre park for small dogs weighing 30# or less and a 5-acre area for large dogs. The reason for two separate areas is to ensure the safety of smaller dogs against injury (accidental or otherwise) by the big dogs.

Additionally, Peppy Paws offers cage-free in-home boarding & doggie daycare! (non-smoking home)
Reasonable rates! Same requirements as for the park. Click here to learn more.

Peppy Paws now offers Tee Shirts!

What members are saying about Peppy Paws Pooch Park: "Comments".
A couple of park stories "here".

You know your dog loves Peppy Paws when....
You have to spell out P-A-R-K in regular conversation to avoid exciting her!
(and you know you have a smart dog when she catches on even when you spell it out)
She starts getting excited when you are still a mile or more away from the park!
You have to keep your car window up so she doesn't impatiently jump out to
get to the park sooner! (using a crate for transport is not a bad safety idea)
You accidentally drop the leash when leaving the park and she runs back!

One adult dog and two older puppies are STILL available for adoption to loving homes here at Peppy Paws. See this (slightly out of date) VIDEO for more info. Since the video was made, I have had Fuzzy & Sally spayed too, so their adoption fee is the same as Betty's, $150.

Betty

Betty is an approximately 2 year old lab mix (?), spayed. She is house-trained, walks pretty well on a leash, and knows "Sit", "Wait", "Okay" (release command), and "Shake". We're working on "Down". She is a quiet dog although she is very alert and will bark at strange sounds. She is very affectionate and gets along well with every dog she's met, which is quite a few. Her coat is very short yet surprisingly soft and very low maintenance. She loves to be petted, but isn't insistent about it.

Fuzzy

Fuzzy, born Feb 28th, 2010, is a well-socialized, friendly pup who would make a great pet. She is spayed. She knows "Sit", "Wait", "Okay" (release command) and "Shake". We are working on "Down", & "Beg". She has medium-long fur which is soft, she likes to be petted, and she is quite mellow. So far, anyway, her fur is not so long as to have significant issues with burrs & tangles. Brushing is easy, yet satisfying (you can actually tell you've brushed her!J)

Sally

Sally is Fuzzy's younger sister, by a couple hours. She was born March 1st, 2010, and, like her sister, is well-socialized and friendly and knows the same commands as her sister. She is also spayed. Her coat is short yet fairly soft and very low maintenance. She loves the water and plays fetch very well, bringing the ball back and dropping it in my hand. she would do best in a home where the owner would take an active interest in training her and ensuring that she gets sufficient exercise. She is more focused and motivated, mostly with toys and food, and energetic than her mellow sister, but is a very sweet pup.

Three distinct and separate organizations in Ashland County aiding unwanted and sometimes abused animals.

The Ashland County Humane Society
has a new web page! Check it often for updates, as the page is new and will have content added frequently, such as the progress on their goal of constructing an actual physical facility for housing abused and stray animals. They have the land, and are now raising money to build a building. Become a Facebook friend by searching Facebook for "Humane Society of Ashland County"; it is a good way to stay up on what is happening!

Ashland County Dog Shelter
Information about this County Government operated facility here! The County maintains the shelter, which is not a no-kill facility, issues the county Dog Licenses, and houses the office of the County Dog Warden. It is funded through dog license fees and adoption fees. In addition to the Dog Warden, there is an Office Manager, Kennel Manager, &, iirc, a part-time kennel assistant. They also rely on volunteers to help socialize, exercise, and care for the dogs. The Dog Shelter does not accept cats.

The Cat House Feline Sanctuary
This is a not-for-profit (501c3) rescue currently at capacity, housing 90 cats. Click here to learn more about how you can help to ensure that Ashland County's stray cats are able to receive proper care and forever homes!
