The ribbon cutting. My nephew Jim is doing the honors; he helped me a lot in building the park.

Dale Thompson, of FAR-SAR Search And Rescue Group describing the qualities of a sucessful search dog. Dale and his wife Stephanie, besides being active in that all volunteer group, also own and operate Steiner Kennels in Richland County, where they offer canine training and grooming. Their number is 419-524-2360.

Judi Bigham, of Hado-Bar Farms,(back to the camera) discussing how herding uses a dog's natural instincts to control other animals. Judi is very active in herding, offering evaluation, and training, and she hosts herding trials at her facility near Nova. Her number, if you have a herding breed and would like more information, is 419-652-3647.

Judi Bigham

One of Judi's dogs, Joy, creeping up on a flock of ducks that moments later she had herded carefully away from the wading pool over through a gate. The intensity with which she works is amazing to watch.

Zoe Young, Courtney Ahmed, and Maya Ahmed, Girl Scouts who built and generously donated the teeter and weave poles which are the first two pieces of dog agility equipment at the park. In so doing, they earned their "Bronze Awards", the highest awards for Girl Scouts in their age group. Thank you, Zoe, Courtney, & Maya!

Shelley Roberts, the Kennel Manager at the Ashland County Dog Shelter, gives Tubby a pat on the back for being so well-behaved at the park. Tubby and many other really great dogs are available for adoption at the shelter.

Full Parking Lot!

George Parks' shirt. George hauled and spread the limestone for the parking lot at the park. He also very capably serves as an Orange Township Trustee. He and a family member brought a Basset Hound out to enjoy the park.

Here's George from the front.

Coco, Gus, Tubby, and Rudy enjoy the shade of a canopy on a hot day with two members of the park

Sunday was sure a hot day!

Some dignitaries present for the ribbon-cutting, including County Commissioner Kim Edwards and Ashland Mayor Glen Stewart

Hangin' out behind the merchant tables for the occasional tidbit slipped through the fence.

Letty, another dog from the Shelter. She was kind of shy when first entering the park, but it didn't take her long to warm up to all the other friendly dogs. She's a really sweet dog.

Gus and Rudy, park doggie hosts, were very tired after such a big, busy weekend!
